  • Face coverings

The current rules on face coverings in England say inter alia that they must be worn in:

    transport hubs
    shops and supermarkets
shopping centres (malls and indoor markets)
    visitor attractions and entertainment venues
public areas in hotels and hostels
    storage and distribution facilities

and that "you are expected to wear a face covering before entering any of these settings and must keep it on until you leave unless there is a reasonable excuse for removing it"

Having been around several marinas in the last couple of weeks, mostly but not all MDL ones. There seems to be a view out there that men over 50 visiting marina facilities are somehow excluded from these regulations to the extent that marina staff are quite happy to chat with them even though they are ignoring the proliferation of notices said staff have put all over the building.

Thank you for your note. We take this very seriously and have passed on to the operations team so we can speak to our marina teams. You can view any of our COVID F&Qs here https://www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/covid-19/ Thank you for taking the time to share.

Well I was back in an MDL Marina today (one of the ones around the Solent}. On no less than three occasions I passed the reception desk (one has no choice if one is using the ablutions) whilst the person behind the desk was happily chatting to men on the customer side of the desk who were not wearing face coverings. It is alright for the MDL staffer, he's behind a screen, but is it too much for him to ask the other person to put on a face cover, there must be half a dozen notices around the office including on one the desk in fornt of him saying that they are mandatory in enclosed areas.

Thank you for bringing up again. We have put signage up and would hope all visitors and berth holders would follow the reccomendations but unfortunalty not all do. As explained we take this very seriously and have fed back again to the teams.
