There isn't much rudder effect from an outboard unless you fit something like a prop guard which is a tube around the prop and will give a bit more rudder effect.

    Auxiliary engine

Hi all, after a bit of advice. I intend to fit an aux outboard to my White Shark 225. My question is can I fix it in a forward facing position and then use the main outboard engine as a rudder, allowing me to stand at the console having good visibility and sight of instruments or will I have to use a tiller on the aux engine and use that to steer with the obvious consequence of being sat on the transom with little forward visibility.
glad for any views from people who have been through this
