I see there is finally some activity on Force India today. Has it been sold? Is it going to move?
Although the paving, hedges and railings are getting a good spruce up (presumably ready for the Boat Show?) there is no progress on the J pontoon and the last section of marina walling still needs completing.
Please can we request that Scott resumes his excellent weekly "Tuesday updates"? They were a very welcome way of keeping us all up to date with the latest plans at OVM and I for one have missed them.

I’ll certainly pass on your comments. The updates will resume shortly, as far as I’m aware Force India is staying put for the time being

Seconded with respect to the 'Tuesday updates', and it would be great for the other marinas to follow suit.

It would also be nice to know if there will ever be more than one member of staff in the Marina again...
Its nice to see that some of the Pontoons are being cleaned again but I guess that is more to do with the upcoming Boat Shows

Is there an on line users forum for Ocean Village Marina?

Not that I'm aware of, perhaps we should use this one? An alternative would be to set up a group on Facebook but some people don't seem to like that platform.

If you are in Ocean Village Marina on Pontoons A to D you may be pleased to know that the walkways and finger pontoons have been cleaned with a commercial high pressure jet wash today...

let’s hope Scott is allowed enough time to keep it up!

Very sorry to see that Scott is retiring and leaving next month. He has done a great job. Paul has a hard act to follow, especially trying to sort out this Otium mess.

We are also very sorry to see Scott is leaving but he is very much l;ooking forward to moving to his house abroad and enjoying some family time. The recruiment process is well under way. Cap10john The Otium product is going great guns for those joining the scheme and a great addition to the portflio.

A little over zealous with the salt \ grit spreading on the pontoons this morning if moored stern to your stern will be coated with a thick coating ... as it is dry right now it can be easily swept off. If not be aware of damage to your teak gel coat mooring lines etc

A great addition to the forum from MDL's point of view if looking only in the short term for sure.

It is a significant reduction in benefits (aka a disguised price rise).

It is opaque about the benefits - even MDL staff struggle to explain it. If you can explain why it's better than freedom berthing for the boater then I'm all ears.

Why do I say short term? It's simple. MDL is expensive, but has great staff and with the freedom berthing package represents a package I'm prepared to pay for. If you force me off freedom berthing onto Otium then this "great addition to the portfolio" and the price rise it represents will have driven this customer of many years away.

And it's a shame. Otium is OK as a concept. People have taken advantage of freedom berthing and MDL wanting a mechanism to put a cap on the swapped nights is not unreasonable.

But the Otium rewards given to the boater demonstrate a greedy reduction in boater benefit by MDL. Nothing great about it from this boater's point of view.

Hi Stinkpot, Berthing Plus Otium is our new recommended berthing package for all new berth holders. It includes 8 weeks storage ashore at MDL boatyards and the ability to earn points that can be redeemed as discounts against any of MDL's services.

As an existing Freedom berthing customer you have the choice of remaining on a standard Freedom Berthing agreement with the benefits applicable to that product, or move to the new Berthing Plus Otium product where you will be given points for the services you purchase.

These points can be redeemed against MDL service as discounts. The choice is yours and will depend on how you use your berth. So please go to the online calculator to see which scheme works out best for you.
